Parents of Athletes,

USD 231 has had additional requests for students to take the ImPact Test for concussion baseline data information.  There will be testing sessions this Thursday, August 22nd and Friday, August 23rd from 3:30 to 5:00 PM in the GEHS Media Center.  If your son or daughter is involved in Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Cheer, Dance, Basketball, Wrestling, High Jump, Pole Vault, Baseball, or Softball this free test is available to students grades 7-12.  Please see the attachments for additional information.  Parents are not required to attend with the students but a parent permission form is required and attached. Please take advantage of the additional testing dates if possible.  Thanks.

Letter from Gary Gribble

Here's a letter we received from Gary Gribble, we wanted to pass it along, just in case any of your are interested!

We wanted to send a brief note to let you know the staff at Garry Gribble's RunningSports is looking forward to seeing you and your cross country athletes again this Fall.
(In fact, we have already had a chance to meet many area high school runners over the past 4-6 weeks as they participate in summer conditioning programs.)

Several specific items of interest:
  • We have started to receive cross country spikes including Brooks, Nike, and Saucony. We will also be getting Adidas and New Balance within the next few weeks.
  • We offer a 10% discount (any regularly priced shoe) year round to any area athlete (cross country and track team members) and coaching staff.
  • Effective August 1 through September 15 all area cross country athletes/coaches are eligible for a double discount (20%). We would also like to offer a free technical tee-shirt to you and your staff while supplies last. The tees are being screened this week and should be available soon.

If you can help us spread the word to your athletes and their parents we would appreciate it.

We apologize if you have received this email in error. Thanks ahead of time if you might be willing to forward this note on to the appropriate individual{s}.

Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Thank you and have a great summer!

Participation Requirements

Dear Parents,

There are 3 forms that need to be completed and on file at WMS before your student(s) can participate in Cross Country.  There is a physical form, an insurance waiver form, and a concussion form.  If your student had a physical on file last year, they will need a new physical on file that was completed after May 1, 2013.  Please click on the link below, which will direct you to the participation forms that are required.  When all three are fully completed, they can be turned into the office at WMS.

It's off and running!

Welcome to the WMS Cross Country Blog!

The beginning of the school year is always exciting, but it's even better when you know that means Cross Country is starting!

This blog is intended to help keep everybody informed about the 2013 Cross Country season.  The calendar for meets is set and can be found on this blog.  Bus departure times and running event start times have been included on the calendar.  We have many away meets this year, and on the calendar there will be a map for each location we are running.  As we get more specific information from the schools running the meets (ex. shirt sales, parking info, awards) that will be posted on here for you to see.

Please remember sometimes events which are out of our hands occur and may slightly alter a schedule or time, but this blog will be as up-to-date as possible for your convenience!  This blog should help everyone feel well-informed of what the season holds for our team!

As the season unfolds, other useful information will be added to this blog.  This information will be helpful for parents and athletes, so please check back often!
