The Ottawa course provided spectacular, hilly views for Wheatridge’s Cross Country runners on Saturday. Seventh grade girls led the way by bringing home two medals. Kenzie Gust took a well-earned second place with a time of 7:23, Shelby Baldwin took fifth place with a time of 7:56, and Erin Smith took nineteenth place with a time of 11:26. Seventh grade boys ran great races, with Mitch Lumley taking third place and bringing home a medal with a time of 6:31, Triston Gibson taking 31st (8:39), Jackson Edwards taking 32nd (8:42), Kole Edwards taking 33rd (8:58), Logan Kleinsorge taking 36th (9:17) and Ryan Blackwell rounding up the pack by taking 38th with a season-best time of 9:44.
The eighth grade course was the most challenging of the season, and the runners did a great job of running smart on this extremely hilly course! Skyler Bartels earned a 14th place medal with a time of 15:19, Haley Meyers took 18th with a season-best time of 15:39, and Jamie Gaither took 19th with a time of 15:45. The eighth grade boys earned two medals; Timothy Stuart took 7th place with a time of 12:29 and Rodolfo Berrum took 9th place with a time of 12:35. Noah Spencer ran a season-best time of 14:17 and took 24th place, Trenton Bilhimer was 34th with a time of 16:52, and Taylor Lindburg rounded up the pack with a season-best time of 20:49. Wheatridge looks forward to running at their second-to-last meet of the season this Wednesday at Celebration Park.
