Press Release - AMAZING!!!

It was a rainy, muddy day in Eudora for Wheatridge Middle School Cross Country runners, but they didn’t let the conditions put a damper on their last meet of the season!  WOW is the best word to describe the performances of all the runners!  EVERY single runner ran a PR (personal record) and WMS now has FOUR new school records!

Kenzie Gust is the new seventh grade girl record holder with a time of 6:21, which also earned her a medal and sixth place in league.  Mitch Lumley shaved off 18 seconds from his previous seventh grade boy record-breaking time with a run of 5:37, which earned him a medal and fourth place in league.  Jamie Gaither had a great last middle school race and broke the eighth grade girl record with a time of 12:54, which earned her a medal and ninth place in league.  Timothy Stuart ran his best race of the season and broke the eighth grade boy record with a time of 11:24, which earned him a medal and eighth place in league.

Other medal-worthy performances were run by three of the runners. Rodolfo Berrum, who also broke the previous eighth grade boy record with a time of 11:34, earned 11th in league. Shelby Baldwin ran a 6:47 and placed tenth in league.  Skyler Bartels ran a 13:19 and placed thirteenth in league.

The runners did a great job of wrapping up their season with great performances.  Seventh graders pushed themselves in their last one mile run.  Erin Smith ran a 9:22, Chase Eccles ran a 6:07, Sebastian Wingfield ran a 7:07, Kole Edwards ran a 7:19, Jackson Edwards ran a 7:32, Logan Kleinsorge ran a 8:02, and Ryan Blackwell ran a 9:05.  Eighth graders ended their middle school season with fantastic two mile runs.  Haley Meyer ran a 14:30, Noah Spencer ran a 12:34, Josh Lopeman ran a 12:55, Trenton Bilhimer ran a 13:55, and Taylor Lindburg ran a 17:55.  WMS coaches are incredibly proud of all the hard work and dedication that the runners gave this season and they look forward to next year!

Eudora Update!

It looks like we're going to be lucky and have a small time slot this afternoon to have our last meet!

Due to the inclement weather that is predicted for later in the afternoon, there is NOT going to be a medal ceremony at the end of the meet.  Medals and ribbons will be given out in the chute, which will help us all get on the buses before the bad weather hits!

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Happy Running,
Coach Gailliez & Coach Kost

End Of The Season Information

We have the opportunity to raise money for Cross Country this Saturday, October 11th. This money will help us buy materials and needed items for next season. There is a volleyball tournament at WMS that day, and Cross Country has signed up to work the concession stand.  This is a great fundraising activity for us.  We need at least one parent volunteer to be present, and at least three runners.  We currently have adults helping out from 7:40am - 10:30am, but am in need of a few more adults who could volunteer their time from 10:30-1:30.  Ms. Gailliez will be taking tickets and Ms. Kost will be doing the book, so we will be close by if any questions arise.  We will both be there to help clean up and close down the concession stand.  Please let us know if you would be available to help out.  Concession stand working is fairly simple and easy, so we hope we can make this work for the team!
