Eudora Press Release

The Wheatridge Mustangs traveled to Eudora for their last cross country meet of the season.  

The seventh grade girls’ one mile race was the first of the meet.  Jillian Velasquez took fourth place and earned a medal with a time of 6:27, Sadie Helms ran a 7:30 and Phoebe States ran a 7:42.    The seventh grade boys’ one mile race was the second of the meet.  Jake McClure lead the race with his first place, medal earning time of 5:40 and Trent Glaser took seventh place and earned a medal with a time of 5:58.  Cam Gillman (6:22), Charlie Kuzma (6:30), Jacob Adams (6:37), Jay Jensen (7:49), and Jackson Holle (9:33 PR) ended their season with strong performances as well.

The eighth grade girls’ two mile race was the next race of the day.  Two Mustangs ran medal earning times; Mallory Boden took sixth place with a time of 14:15 and Ashlyn Bell took thirteenth place with a time of 14:59.  Rachel Stuart (16:49), Bethany Stuart (17:33), Liz Noll (19:02), and Cassie Sleet (20:54) rounded out the race and ended their seasons well.  The eighth grade boys’ two mile race ended the meet.  Ryan Hamilton (13:27), Korbin Poznich (13:43), Jude Graham (13:54), Masen Kindler (13:54), Christian Gomez (14:08), Cale Yokley (14:14 PR), Kaeden Elbert (14:20), and Tyler Williams (14:32) all had a great last meet performances.

League medals were given to the first three runners in the league and ribbons were given to league runners in places four through ten.  Wheatridge runners who earned league awards are Jake McClure (1st place), Trent Glaser (5th place), Jillian Velasquez (3rd place), Mallory Boden (4th place), and Ashlyn Bell (8th place).   

The Mustangs had a wonderful season and their coaches are so proud of the progress they all made!

Eudora Meet Information

Location:  Eudora Middle School, 2635 Church St, Eudora, KS 66025

Fun Run: There will be a 1 mile race at 5:30 for any K-8 non-cross country runners.  Other schools are invited to participate.  Top 3 boys & 3 girls medal.

Medals for the Invitational: Will be handed out in the chute as runners finish (top 15 in 7G, 7B, 8G, 8B).

League medals: League medals and ribbons will be presented to the top 10 runners in 7G, 7B, 8G, 8B (top 3 receive medals, 4th-10th receive ribbons) at the awards ceremony.

PRMS Press Release

 Amazing job, everyone!!  We had almost ALL of our team run personal records today!  We also have TWO NEW SEVENTH GRADE SCHOOL RECORDS!!  Below is the Press Release for you to see your times.  Also, I will personally be reading this Press Release tomorrow morning on the announcements, which means if you ran a PR, you will be getting a special shout out!

The 7th grade girls’ one mile kicked off the meet.  All three girls ran personal records!  Phoebe States ran a 7:29 (PR), Sadie Helms ran a 7:09 (PR), and Jillian Velasquez set a new school record with a time of 5:59 (PR)!  The 7th grade boy’s one mile was next, and many of the boys ran personal records in this race as well.  Jake McClure led the race and set a new school record with a time of 5:30 (PR), Trent Glaser was not far behind him taking third place with a time of 5:55 (PR), and the third Mustang to earn a medal was Charlie Kuzma who took ninth with a time 6:10 (PR).  Jacob Adams (6:44), Shane Hutchison (7:38 PR), Jay Jensen (7:48 PR), and Jackson Holle (9:56) had strong performances as well.


The 8th grade girls’ two mile was the next race and was followed by the 8th grade boys’ two mile.  Every single 8th grade runner ran a personal record!  Three Mustangs ran medal times in the girls’ race;  Mallory Boden took second (13:44 PR), Ashlyn Bell took fourth (13:59 PR), and Rachel Stuart took ninth (15:04 PR).  Bethany Stuart (15:33 PR), Cassie Sleet (15:44 PR), and Liz Noll (18:45 PR) had amazing races as well!  Blaine Leon took tenth with a medal earning time of 12:17 (PR), and the rest of his teammates all ran personal records as well;  Ryan Hamilton (12:49 PR), Korbin Poznich (13:01 PR), Jude Graham (13:11 PR), Christian Gomez (13:13), Masen Kindler (13:14 PR), Kaeden Elbert (13:33 PR), Tyler Williams (13:46 PR).

Pioneer Ridge Middle School Meet

Wednesday, September 28th


Location: The meet will be held at the Celebration Park Cross Country Course, just north of Pioneer Ridge Middle School (16200 Kill Creek Rd.) in Gardner.
Shoes: The course has a variety of surfaces involved in it including concrete, asphalt, dirt and grass. Spiked shoes are prohibited.
Time Schedule:
7th grade girls – 4:00 p.m. (1 mile)
7th grade boys ~4:15 p.m. (1 mile)
8th grade girls ~4:35 p.m. (2 miles)
8th grade boys ~4:55 p.m. (2 miles)
RACE TIMES ARE APPROXIMATE

Medals: Medals will be passed out in the chute to the top ten finishers in each race.
Timing: The meet will be timed using Ticker Timing.

Ottawa Press Release

The seventh graders ran a combined girls and boys one mile race.  Six seventh grade runners placed in the top twenty and earned medals.  Jillian Velasquez took third (7:10) and Sadie Helms took eleventh (8:13) for the girls team.  Jake McClure led the race and took first (6:17), Trent Glaser took second (6:51), Cam Gillman took fourth (7:13), Charlie Kuzma took fifth (7:15), and Jacob Adams took eleventh (7:32).  Other great performances on this hilly course were Shane Hutchison (8:39), Jay Jensen (9:05), Phoebe States (9:58), and Jackson Holle (11:29).

The eighth graders ran a combined girls and boys two mile race.  All six of the eighth grade girl runners placed in the top twenty and earned medals.  Mallory Boden took second (15:17), Ashlyn Bell took fourth (15:54), Bethany Stuart took twelfth (18:19), Rachel Stuart took thirteenth (18:55), Cassie Sleet took nineteenth (22:36), and Liz Noll took twentieth (25:06).  Five of the boys placed in the top twenty and earned medals.  Blaine Leon took tenth (14:19), Ryan Hamilton took eleventh (14:23), Korbin Poznich took twelfth (14:29), Masen Kindler took fourteen (14:34), and Jude Graham took eighteenth (14:49).  Other great performances on this hilly course were Christian Gomez (15:11), Tyler Williams (15:40), Cale Yokley (16:02), and Kaeden Elbert (16:06).

Ottawa Middle School Cross Country Meet
Saturday, September 24th                                                      
Bus Departure:  The bus will be leaving WMS promptly at 9:30.  Please do not drop your runner off any earlier than 9:00 because there will be no adult supervision.  
Location:  The course is located on Eisenhower Rd. just south (1/2 mile ) of I-35.  Just keep going on the gravel road straight south till you see the course on the left.  
Parking:  Parking is available on Eisenhower Rd west of the course and Kingman Rd. north of the course.  Buses should park south of the hill on Eisenhower Rd.  There will be directional signs.
PLEASE AVOID THE QUARRY ON THE EAST SIDE!!!!!
The race schedule is as follows (THIS IS UPDATED AS OF 10 am on FRIDAY - the changes are to avoid potential heat and weather issues.)
7th Grade Boys & Girls will be running a COMBINED race at 11:00 (or as close to 11 as possible with regards to when the JV High School race finishes)
8th Grade Girls & Boys will be running a COMBINED race at 11:15 (or as close to 11:15 as possible, depending on when the 7th grade race finishes)
Medals:  These will be awarded at the finish line to the top 20 in each division.
Size of Meet:  We have six teams running this year.  
Pets:  PETS SHOULD NOT BE BROUGHT TO THE COURSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spring Hill Meet Information

Spring Hill CC Invitational September 22th, 2016

Location:
The meet will be held at SHMS North Campus, 300 E South Street, Spring Hill, KS 66083.  

Course:  
Our course has been designed in a 1-mile loop with a slight adjustment as the 8th grade will run the loop twice to complete a 2-mile run.  The course is located just north of the parking lot and baseball field.


Parking:
SHMS North will dismiss at 3:20pm.  Teams can be dropped off by 3:10pm at the North parking lot prior to our student dismissal.  Bus parking is available at SHMS South, 301 E South Street.  Please park in the southeast corner of the lot.  There will be limited parking for spectators at the SHMS North lot, overflow parking is across the street at SHMS South.


Concession Stand:
There will be a concession stand sponsored by the PTO and restrooms available near the course.

Race schedule:
7th girls – 4:00 pm (1-mile)
7th boys – 4:15 pm (1-mile)
8th girls – 4:30 pm (2-mile)
8th boys- 4:50 pm (2-mile)
Race times are approximate and could start prior to the time listed.

Medals:
Individual medals will be awarded to the top 10 finishers in each of the four divisions.  Medals will be given to runners after exiting the chute.

It was a beautiful afternoon for the Wheatridge Mustangs to run at the Bonner Springs Cross Country Invitational on Saturday, September 17th.  

The first race of the day was the seventh grade girls’ one mile.  Jillian Velasquez earned a fourth place finish and a medal with a time of 7:14, and her teammates Sadie Helms (8:25) and Phoebe States (9:46) had strong performances as well.  The seventh grade boys’ one mile race followed.  Three Mustangs ran top fifteen times and earned medals; Jake McClure took second place with a time of 6:04, Trent Glaser took sixth place with a time of 6:27, and Cam Gillman took thirteenth with a time of 6:37.  Other seventh grade boy performances were Jay Jensen (8:38), Shane Hutchison (8:53), and Jackson Holle (10:13).

The eighth grade girls’ two mile race was next.  Mallory Boden led the pack and earned a first place finish with a time of 14:09.  Her teammate Ashlyn Bell also ran a medal-earning time;  she came in fifth with a time of 14:51.  Other great performances were Cassie Sleet (17:00), Bethany Stuart (17:20), Rachel Stuart (17:40), and Liz Noll (22:33).  The last race of the day was the boys’ two mile. The boys had strong performances;  Korbin Poznich (13:51), Masen Kindler (13:57), Ryan Hamilton (13:58), Jude Graham (14:26), Blaine Leon (14:29), Tyler Williams (15:09), Kaeden Elbert (15:59).

The Mustangs are looking forward to running at their fourth meet of the season on Thursday, September 22nd at Spring Hill.

Bus Departure
The bus will be leaving WMS at 11am.  Please do not drop off runners earlier than 10:30, as there will be no adult supervision, and we want to keep the kids safe.


Parking
Busses may park on Wyco Park Road, which is the first road on the left after you turn onto 126th street off of State Line. Cars can park across the street in the open parking lot.

It was a hot day and you did a great job today at Wellsville! Below is the press release, if you ran faster today than you did on Saturday, your time will have a PR (Personal Record) next to it !


The Wheatridge Mustangs traveled to Wellsville on Thursday to run at their second meet of the season.  Seventh grader Jillian Velasquez took eighth in the mile with a medal-earning time of 6:39 and was joined by Sadie Helms (8:03) and Phoebe States (9:05 PR) in the first race of the day.  Four Seventh grade boys ran medal-earning times;  Jake McClure took second place with a time of 5:47 (PR) and the pack of Trent Glaser (6:21), Cam Gillman (6:26 PR), and Charlie Kuzma (6:29 PR) took 16th, 17th, and 18th, respectively.  Other great seventh grade boy performances were Jacob Adams (6:52), Jay Jensen (8:28 PR), and Jackson Holle (9:50 PR).

The last race of the day was a combined 8th grade boys and girls two mile run.  Mallory Boden took ninth with a medal-earning time of 14:58 and Ashlyn Bell took twelfth with a medal-earning time of 15:11.  Other girl performances were Bethany Stuart (17:46), Rachel Stuart (18:17), Cassie Sleet (19:17), and Liz Noll (21:34).  The boy’s team was well represented with performances by Ryan Hamilton (13:41), Korbin Poznich (14:00), Masen Kindler (14:10), Blaine Leon (14:28), Christian Gomez (14:30), Jude Graham (14:36), Cale Yokley (14:56), Kaeden Elbert (15:04), and Tyler Williams (15:13).

The Mustangs will travel to Wyandotte County Park on Saturday to run at the Bonner Springs Invitational.  

Wellsville Meet Information

Wellsville CC Invitational September 15th, 2016

Location:
The meet will be held on the 40 acres located on the northwest corner of Wellsville.  The course is just east of the Wellsville Elementary School at 218 Ash Street.  

Parking:
Bus, van, and fan parking will be very limited.  Parking for fans will be will be available in the parking lot south of the new elementary school after 3:30 pm. The easiest parking will be located in the student parking area north of the high school.  You will then need to walk north to 4th street, west to the end of 4th street,  then north through the gates to the running area.  Restroom facilities are located at the school.  Please be aware of the no parking signs on 4th street.

Race Time Schedule:
7th Girls   4:00 PM    (1 Mile)
7th Boys   4:10 PM    (1 Mile)
8th Boys & Girls   4:20 PM     (2 Miles)
Race times are approximate .  Races will run ahead of schedule if possible.  If there is a problem with extreme temperatures, the schedule may be revised.

Awards:
The top 20 places for each grade level and gender will be awarded.  Medals will be handed out as the runners come through the chute.
Transportation:
Please make sure to sign out your child if you wish to take them from the meet so we can ensure they are accounted for before we leave the meet.

Amazing Job Runners!!! We are SO INCREDIBLY proud of all of your performances and are excited to see how the rest of your season unfolds! Below is the Press Release that will be given to the local papers.

It was a beautiful morning at Celebration Park for Wheatridge Middle School’s Cross Country meet on Saturday, September 10th.  It was a great kickoff to the WMS season!

The first race of the day was the seventh grade girls’ mile.  Jillian Velasquez earned a medal and fourth place finish with a time of 6:32.  Sadie Helms (7:47) and Phoebe States (9:24) both had great first meet performances.  The second race of the day was the seventh grade boys’ mile.  Two Mustangs earned medals in this race, Jake McClure earned a second place finish with a time of 5:50 and Trent Glaser earned a sixth place finish with a time of 6:16.  Other great performances were Cam Gillman (6:30), Jacob Adams (6:36), Charlie Kuzma (6:36),  Shane Hutichison (8:13), Jay Jensen (8:33), and Jackson Holle (10:16).

The eighth grade girls’ two mile was the next race of the day.  Mallory Boden earned a seventh place finish and a medal with a time of 13:58 and  Ashlyn Bell earned a ninth place finish and a medal with a time of 14:09.  Bethany Stuart (16:32), Cassie Sleet (16:35), Rachel Stuart (17:10), and Liz Noll (18:45) all had great first season races.  The last race of the day was the eighth grade boys’ two mile.  While no Mustangs took medals, the eighth grade boys still had great first season races: Ryan Hamilton (12:57), Korbin Poznich (13:14), Blaine Leon (13:19), Jude Graham (13:37), Christian Gomez (13:49), Tyler Williams (14:48), and Kaeden Elbert (14:51).

The Wheatridge Mustangs look forward to racing at their second meet of the season in Wellsville on Thursday, September 15th.
