Our Awards Assembly will be this Friday, May 10th during 8th hour in the gym.  

If you purchased a shirt, please wear it that day.

Uniforms need to be turned into Ms. Gailliez by Friday.

Press Release League Meet

The Wheatridge Mustangs had a great close to their season at the League Meet in Spring Hill on Saturday, May 6th.

Kiersten Markos won the League Meet in Shot Put with a throw of 35’2.5’’ and also took sixth in the Discus with a distance of 72’2’’.  Jillian Velasquez took second in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 28.28 and fifth in the 1600 Meter Run with a time of 6:07.87.  Emma Brooks tied for second in the Pole Vault with a height of 7’ and took seventh in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:51.90.  The 4x100 Relay team (Brooks, Leggett, Shipps,Velasquez) took fifth with a time of 58.44 and the 4x200 Relay team (Bojanski, Ham, Shipps, Velasquez  ) took sixth with a time of 2:07.84.  

Ashlyn Bell took third in the 1600 Meter Run with a time of 5:56.38 and fourth in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:40.25.  Kelly Smith took fourth in the 100 Hurdles with a time of 19.43.  Ashton Keith took fourth in the Discus with a distance of 87’2’’.  Mallory Boden took fifth in the 1600 Meter Run with a time of 6:03.15.  The Medley Relay team (Bell, Boden, Hotchkiss, Smith) took sixth with a time of 2:09.06.  

Jake McClure won the League Meet in both the 1600 Meter Run and the Long Jump, with a time of 5:23.35 and a jump of 16’1.5’’, he also took sixth place in the 100 Meter Hurdles.  Charlie Kuzma took sixth place in the Long Jump with a jump of 14’2.5’’.  Alek Stevanov took seventh in the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 13.18.  The 4x200 Relay team (Glaser, Kuzma, McClure, Stevanov) took sixth place.

Ethan Reynolds took second in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 25.54, tied for third in the High Jump with a height of 5’, and took fourth in the Long Jump with a distance of 16’9’’. Trey Hullum took seventh place in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:00.80.  Aidan Dulku took seventh in the Shot Put with a throw of 35’8’’

Spring Hill Press Release

The Mustangs traveled to the Spring Hill Invitational on Tuesday, May 2nd for their second-to-last meet of the season.

The seventh grade girls team took fourth place overall.  First place finishers were Zoey Edwards in the 1600 Meter Run with a time of 6:12.18 and Kiersten Markos in the Shot Put with a distance of 31’10.5’’.  Second place finishers were Jillian Velasquez in the 200 Meter Dash and Kiersten Markos in the Discus.  Emma Brooks took third in the 800 Meter Run, Tynee Leggett took fourth in the 200 Meter Dash, and the Medley Team of Savannah Balog, Emma Brooks, Tynee Leggett, and Hailey Sullivan took fourth place as well.  Fifth place finishers were Jillian Velasquez in the 100 Meter Dash, Tynee Leggett in the 400 Meter Run, and Emma Brooks in Pole Vault.

The seventh grade boys did a great job.    Jake McClure earned first place in the 1600 Meter Run with a time of 5:30.3 and the Long Jump with a distance of 14’7.  Fourth place finishers were Jake McClure in the Hurdles, Alek Stevanov in the 100 Meter Dash, Jay Jensen in the Shot Put, and the 4x200 Relay Team of Trent Glaser, Charlie Kuzma, Jake McClure, and Alek Stevanov.   Charlie Kuzma took fifth place in the Long Jump.

The eighth grade girls team took fourth place overall.  Ashlyn Bell earned first place in the 1600 Meter Run with a time of 5:53.4 and the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:39.5.  Mallory Boden took second place in the 1600 Meter Run and third place in the 800 Meter Run, Ashton Keith took third place in the Discus, and the Medley Team of Ashlyn Bell, Mallory Boden, Avery Hotchkiss, and Kelly Smith took third place.  Fourth place finishers were Avery Hotchkiss in the 400 Meter Run and Kelly Smith in the 200 Meter Dash.  Fifth place finishers were Kelly Smith in the Hurdles and Ashton Keith in the Shot Put.

The eighth grade boys die a great job.  Trey Hullum took second place in High Jump and Ethan Reynolds took third in the 200 Meter Dash.  Third place finishers were Aidan Dulku in the Shot Put, and both the Medley Team (Jude Graham, Hunter Meyer, Ethan Reynolds, Michael Taylor) and the 4x400 Team (Ryan Hamilton, Trey Hullum, Masen Kindler, Blaine Leon).  Blaine Leon took fifth place in the 1600 Meter Run.  

The Wheatridge track team will be traveling to Spring Hill on Saturday, May 6th to complete their season at the League Meet.

DATE OF MEET: Friday, May 5th (8th grade boys’and girls’ Pole Vault ONLY)

TIME/Date: May 5th and 6th (Rain date - Monday, May 8th)

Friday - 4:00 P.M. - Pole Vault for 8th grade girls followed by boys.

Saturday - 8:30 AM – Head Coaches Meeting in the press box.

9:00 - Field events begin

10:00 - 3200 M Run (8th Grade only)

11:00 - Prelims begin (100 M, 200 M, 100 H,)

Finals will begin 15 minutes after the prelims end

ADMISSION: Track athletes, coaches, managers, administrators, and bus drivers will be marked and admitted free  of charge upon arrival. All others will pay as follows: Adults $3.00 and Students $2.00.

COACHES MEETING - 8:30 AM in the press box. Only scratches can be made. No new entries or
substitutions allowed (except substitutions on relays).

LOCATIONS:

Shot Put and Discus areas are directly north of the track.

Long Jump areas are at the north and southeast sides of the track.

Pole Vault area is on the northeast corner.

High jump areas are on the north end of the track.



SCORING: All events 10-8-6-4-3-2-1

Field events will have 3 preliminary jumps or throws. The top 8 participants will go to the finals
and have 3 additional jumps or throws.

Sprint races will take 8 to the finals. Heat winners and next fastest times will advance to the finals.

STARTING HEIGHTS: Will be 2 heights below the 7th place entry.

AWARDS & RESULTS: In all events, medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes.
Ribbons will be awarded for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th place finishes. Throughout the day, results will be
posted on the west side of the stadium. Medals and ribbons will be placed in a packet for each school. They may be picked up (along with complete results) in the press box at the conclusion of the meet.

SURFACES: The Shot and Discus rings are concrete. The eight lane track and jump areas are all-weather rubber. Spikes longer than 1/4 inch are not allowed. Starting blocks will be provided.

LOCKER ROOMS: Locker rooms are not available. Each school will be responsible for their own
valuables.

TEAM CAMPS: The area on the south and east of the track is the best location for camp. Camps can
also be set outside the fence on the north end. Please do not set up team camps on the football field or
near competition areas. You may also advise your spectators that lawn chairs will be allowed in areas
around the outside of the track.

WARM-UP AREA: THE FOOTBALL FIELD AREA SHOULD BE USED BY COACHES AND
ATHLETES PREPARING FOR COMPETITION.

T-SHIRTS: League Meet shirts will be available for $10. We will order shirts and they will be available on a first come basis. Encourage and plan for athletes to purchase them as they arrive as they will be available to the public and could sell out.

BUS PARKING: Buses may drop off at the track. We would ask for them to park at SHMS NORTH
across the street from the stadium to allow parent parking closest to the track. Buses should be available all day in case of inclement weather. Overflow parking is available at SHMS NORTH as well.

CONCESSIONS: There will be a concession stand open at the track.

HOSPITALITY AREA: Food and soft drinks will be available for coaches, administrators and bus
drivers in the shed on the southwest corner.

PLEASE HAVE YOUR TEAM PICK UP THEIR TRASH AT THE END OF THE DAY.
