Cross Country 2019

Ottawa Press Release

The Wheatridge Cross Country team traveled to the very hilly Ottawa course on Saturday, September 23rd.  Although the hot, humid weather and hilly course did not provide any Personal Records for any of the Mustangs, many runners earned top-twenty medals!

The seventh grade girls’ team took first place overall. Hannah Elliott led the way and won the one mile race (7:08), Natalie Yarbrough took fourth (7:33), Natalie Claycamp took seventh (7:46), Charli McGill took thirteenth (8:03), Olivia Hinck took eighteenth (8:13), and Taylor Dryden took twenty third (8:52).

The boys team ran the second race of the day and did a great job of tackling the hilly course.  Gage Graham took eighth place (7:16), Jackson Elsey took ninth place (7:20), Kyler Leadbetter took eighteenth (7:50), Tyler Utter took thirty second (9:03), Will Korosec took thirty third (9:04), and Sam McQueen took thirty eighth (10:37).

Each of the two mile eighth grade races were represented by one Wheatridge Mustang.  Sadie Helms took fifth place (17:55) in the girls’ race and Shane Chambers took sixteenth place (16:55) in the boys’ race.

The Mustangs are excited to revisit the first course of the season at Pioneer Ridge’s meet on Wednesday, September 27th.
